Organ Donor

The law around organ donation in England has changed.

All adults in England are now considered to have agreed to be an organ donor when they die unless they have recorded a decision not to donate or are in one of the excluded groups.

If you do not want to donate your organs then you should register your decision to refuse to donate. Remember to speak to your family and loved ones about your decision. https://www.organdonation.nhs.uk/register-your-decision/refuse-to-donate/

Nurse Practitioners

Nurse Merilyn Green (f)

Merilyn joined the Practice in June 2019 as our Advanced Nurse Practitioner. She started her nursing career in 1973 as a student at the Old Orthopaedic, Southernhay and RD&E Wonford Hospitals. Her first post in general practice was in 1980 in Dorset. Throughout the many changes she has encountered in the NHS, she remains committed to caring for the individuals and families that service. Outside of surgery, she can often be found in the swimming pool, trying to fend off ageing decline (her words not ours!).

Merilyn has worked locally for a number of years so brings a wealth of experience and knowledge. Merilyn will be working alongside our GPs and Nursing team, to triage and see patients that have an urgent medical need on the day.

Nurses

Nurse Clare Grigg (f)

Clare joined the practice nurse team in 2015 as our Practice Nurse Manager, after many years as a District Nurse working in the local community, Clare offers a wide and full range of clinical skills befitting a highly experienced modern day senior Practice Nurse.

Nurse Andrea Newcombe (f)

Andrea joined the team in September 2018 bringing 30+ years nursing experience, most recently as a Practice Nurse in London and before that in Travel health and as a School nurse. Her specialist interest is safeguarding.

Nurse Jacqui Demetre (f)

Jacqui is a qualified nurse, having obtained her RGN in 1986. She then went on to obtain her RSCN (children) in 1988. Further education includes obtaining a Diploma of Higher Education (2004) and finally a BSc (hons) Health Studies in 2010.

Her nursing career has been varied having worked in hospitals and in the community finding General Practice which has become her passion for many years, loving the variety of her role. Her particular interest is long term conditions management, particularly diabetes which has become her specialist area.

Jacqui is married with 3 grown up children - interests include walking, pilates and yoga.

The Nursing team undertake the whole range of nursing procedures carried out in General Practice and are responsible for Health education, routine immunisations, blood tests, screening procedures and dressings, plus Asthma, Diabetes and Heart Disease Clinics. They also manage specialist clinics which include, baby vaccinations, and cervical screening.

 

We also have two healthcare assistants, Catherine & Lisa, and a Phlebotomist Sarah, who offer various clinics including smoking cessation advice, health checks, ear syringing and wound management.

Healthcare Assistants

Mrs Lisa Davies (f)

Lisa joined the Practice in September 2017, bringing lots of experience having previously worked in the local Hospital as a Healthcare Assistant for over 10 years. Lisa also works in the admin team.

Lisa is also our trained smoking cessation advisor.

Mrs Louise Hills (f)

Louise joined the Practice in November 2019, bringing lots of experience having previously worked as a Healthcare Assistant in a large hospital. Louise also works in the admin & reception team.
